Just Call Me - The Lawn Ranger

Normally, I try to avoid getting all sweaty and gross at all costs.
(the beach, etc. doesn't count)
I love the the Dog Days of Summer -
when I'm looking out my window and enjoying the view.
Nature and beautiful scenery is great and all,
especially when watching the Tour de France on a 64 in telelvision.
Normally, I do not choose to go outside and pretend
that I am a lawn maintenance man, or a professional landscaper.
But, when you want to have a new home and a pretty yard,
sometimes you gotta put on your big girl panties work gloves,
old boots and jeans, and get to work!

And so our weekend began!

There is a massive willow growing in the "creek". It HAS to come down. Enter J and his saw. Mind you, we did not use the big chain saw, as we did not want to wake up the neighbors that early in the morning. No need to have everyone mad at us before we even pour the foundation! But he had this other saw contraption and had great luck with it all weekend.

Oh, you noticed that I just said "all weekend"? Yes, we worked on and off ALL weekend! Even before church on Sunday morning.....Yeah, we're hard core like that......

Bailey served as our guard dog each day. J thinks she is a wimp since I brought a blanket for her to sit on....but hey, I've gotta have a "bed" to send her to if she gets naughty! And the leaves are all itchy....*wink wink*

Bailey is admiring the view. You notice who she's sitting by. Yep. No doubt about it!

J is her favorite. =)

Here are more little willows going down on Sunday.

And here is a big ole pile of stuff that had to be stacked after cutting - AND I HELPED!! (It's Shake and Bake! And I Helped!!!)

I think the place is really starting to look good. We had several neighbors come over with cold water and compliments on how great the cleanup effort went. Seems the 'hood is excited about us moving in sometime in the near future.
I really like this neighborhood. Nice people. Kids everywhere. I would rather be stacking brush over here anyday than being other places, with not so fabulous folks......

***And, to be fair (and for the record), J is no slave driver. We even took a break Saturday and went to Dallas for a dinner with Dr. M and C at Capital Grille. Loc recommended the steak (kona rub) and shrimp (stuffed with crab and lobster) special. He is a genius and dinner was amazing. Great food and great people! I am looking forward to our next double date....I am hoping for sushi at Steel****

I hope everyone else had a great weekend too!
Love, E
