Thankfulness

So many friends of mine are listing one thing a day they are thankful throughout the month of November, either on their blog or their facebook.
Since facebook has gotten increasingly lame, I decided I will throw a few thankfuls out here on the old blog for the next several days. Sometimes I think we all get so focussed on what we do NOT have, we tend to lose sight of what we DO have.
So here are a few things that I'm thankful for right now TODAY:

1. My friends. As in, my REAL friends. I have many AMAZING friends. I'm thinking of S and J in particular right now.
S is pretty much my mom nowadays. She loves me unconditionally, laughs at all my jokes, but at the same time will lovingly give me the figurative slap in the face when I need to get back in line. I appreciate that. She's NEVER ugly. Always faithful and true. And I know that every little piece of advice she gives me comes from the fact she loves me. That's so cool. We aren't blood relatives. She doesn't HAVE to love me, but she CHOOSES to instead. That's priceless. And she will definitely be a "grandma" to my kids one day too.
And J: my email buddy who I've known since the first day of second grade. There is something about knowing someone for a really long time that just makes you love them and root for them. You understand them. Even if you don't live in the same town, or talk every single day, you just are on their side. I think about J and her family every day. I pray for ALL of them. And I know she does the same for me. She wants the BEST for me. She wants me to be happy. And she's always happy for my good news. And I'm happy for her good news. I'm not jealous of her, even though she is blessed beyond measure. I'm just down right happy for her. And when one of us is having a bad day, we can email the other and vent, gripe, moan and groan and at least know someone is praying for us and of course will keep quiet if we need something to stay private. J is LOYAL. She's NO flake.
True friends are hard to find. Loyalty is PRICELESS. And I'm thankful for S and J today.
2. ANTIBIOTICS. After being sick for over two weeks, I'm thankful for drugs. Oh, and cough drops. Oh and the new kleenex that is actually cool and soothing to the touch. Makes a huge difference on the schnoze. It may cost thirty cents more, but that's thirty cents WELL SPENT.
3. RAIN!!! Right now it is POURING outside!!! We need rain in these here parts SO BADLY right now. So Praise the Lord we are getting some today. Truly. Rain is a blessing.
